Denza N7, the highly anticipated new energy vehicle (NEV) from the brand under BYD, has announced its official launch schedule after a successful pre-sales phase that began last month.

According to Zhao Changjiang, the general manager of Denza’s sales division, the Denza N7 will be officially launched in late June, with deliveries commencing in July. This announcement came during the company’s first brand day event following BYD’s effective control of Denza.

Denza was established in February 2011 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, with both companies holding a 50 percent stake at the time. However, in February 2022, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz.

Last year, BYD increased its stake in Denza to 90 percent, while Mercedes-Benz’s stake decreased to 10 percent.

Following a reorganization, Denza introduced its first model, the D9 MPV, in August 2022. Deliveries of the Denza D9 began in October last year, and in April this year, the brand achieved the milestone of delivering over 10,000 units for the second consecutive month, with a total of 10,526 units.

As the second model released after the change in equity, the Denza N7 is a 5-seat midsize SUV, measuring 4,860 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,602 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm.

During the brand day event, Zhao revealed that the N7 will offer two front design options, distinguished by the presence of a bar or a grille below the headlights, respectively.

Additionally, the N7 will come equipped with smart driving hardware, and advanced assisted driving software will be made available starting in December, according to Zhao.

The Denza N7 boasts its own operating system and is compatible with various systems, including Huawei’s HarmonyOS.

Zhao shared that 30 percent of Denza D9 consumers, who are predominantly in their 30s and 40s, have already placed orders for the Denza N7. Moreover, data from over 10,000 orders reveal that Denza N7 consumers are younger, with an average age above 23, compared to the D9 consumers.

Reservations for the N7 were opened on April 18, the first day of the Shanghai auto show, but specific pricing details have yet to be released. Zhao previously stated on Weibo that the SUV aims to capture the market for traditional internal combustion engine cars priced around 400,000 yuan ($56,300).

Within just seven days of commencing pre-sales, the Denza N7 received an impressive 10,569 pre-orders, as announced by Denza on April 25.

In addition to the N7, Denza has also unveiled the exterior and interior design of another SUV, the Denza N8, further expanding their product lineup.
