BYD’s premium vehicle brand Denza has opened pre-sales for the Denza Z in China, introducing its first all-electric supercar as the automaker seeks to strengthen its presence in the high-performance electric vehicle market.

The Denza Z is offered in three variants. The Coupe hardtop starts at 680,000 yuan ($100,300), the Spider convertible is priced at 780,000 yuan, and the Racing track-focused version starts at 1.18 million yuan. The model is scheduled to officially launch in the fourth quarter.

Performance-Focused Electric Supercar

The Denza Z made its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom earlier this month, marking one of the first Chinese-developed electric supercars targeting both domestic and European performance car markets.

In the UK, the Coupe begins at £142,900 ($191,410), while the Spider and Racing variants are priced at £159,900 and £172,900, respectively. Reservations are expected to open in October, with deliveries planned before the end of the year.

Designed under the direction of automotive designer Wolfgang Egger, the Denza Z features a low-profile coupe design with aerodynamic bodywork, integrated air channels, carbon-fiber structural components and LiDAR sensors supporting its advanced driver-assistance system.

The Coupe and Racing models measure 4,870 millimeters in length, while the Spider is slightly shorter at 4,780 millimeters. All variants share a 2,780-millimeter wheelbase and are available with 20-inch or 21-inch performance wheels.

Advanced Chassis and AI Driving Technologies

The Denza Z is powered by a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system comprising one front motor and two rear motors, producing a combined peak output of 1,180 kilowatts (1,582 horsepower).

According to Denza, the Racing version accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 1.96 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The Coupe and Spider complete the sprint in 2.25 seconds and 2.3 seconds, respectively, with both reaching a maximum speed of 300 kilometers per hour.

The vehicle is the first to feature BYD’s e3 intelligent vehicle control platform, which combines three independently controlled electric motors with independent steering of both rear wheels.

It also incorporates BYD’s first fully in-house developed steer-by-wire system, eliminating the conventional mechanical steering linkage.

The Denza Z is further equipped with the DiSus-M intelligent suspension system, which uses magnetorheological dampers capable of adjusting suspension characteristics within milliseconds to improve handling during high-performance driving.

Across all variants, the vehicle includes the latest God’s Eye 5.0 advanced driver-assistance system, supporting features such as highway navigation-assisted driving, automated parking and remote parking retrieval.

Power is supplied by BYD’s lithium iron phosphate Blade Battery. The China-market model uses a 102-kilowatt-hour battery pack paired with an 800-volt fast-charging architecture.

The Denza Z represents BYD’s latest effort to expand its premium portfolio following the launch of the Yangwang U9. While the Yangwang model targets the ultra-luxury segment, Denza is positioned to compete more directly with high-performance electric sports cars available in the broader premium market.

The company also said it plans to take the Denza Z to Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit to evaluate the vehicle’s performance capabilities.
