Denza, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand under BYD, has taken a crucial step toward the launch of its new Denza N9 SUV. The model has been included in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) latest catalog of models available for public comment, a final regulatory hurdle before official sales approval. Public feedback on the vehicle can be submitted from October 16 to 22.
The Denza N9 is a six-seat plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) boasting a substantial size, with a length of 5,258 mm, width of 2,030 mm, height of 1,830 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
Weighing between 3,130 and 3,245 kilograms, the SUV supports a top speed of 230 kilometers per hour. It is powered by three electric motorsâone with 200 kW at the front and two 240 kW motors at the rearâalongside a 1,995-ml engine producing 152 kW of power output.
Manufactured across several BYD production sites, including Changsha, Hefei, Jinan, Zhengzhou, and Shenzhen, the Denza N9 will feature BYDâs e3 technology, a scaled-down version of its ultra-luxury e⎠platform.
This technology includes tri-motor independent drive with dual-motor rear-wheel independent steering for enhanced performance.
Denza recently previewed the N9 on its Weibo account, showcasing the SUVâs large dimensions. Following the launch of the Denza Z9GT in September, which also incorporated e3 technology, the N9 is expected to continue pushing the brand’s ambitions in the premium SUV market.
