Denza, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand of BYD, has taken a significant step in its international expansion by opening its first flagship showroom in Hong Kong.
The brand’s new flagship store, located in the Kowloon Bay auto shopping district, was unveiled yesterday, as announced by Denza’s general manager of the sales division, Zhao Changjiang, in a Weibo post.
This milestone follows the recent launch of the right-hand drive version of Denza’s D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in Hong Kong on June 11, with a local price range of HK$660,000 ($84,498) to HK$750,000.
The D9, which has already garnered nearly 1,000 orders in Hong Kong, was initially released in the Chinese mainland on March 6, with prices starting at RMB 339,800 ($46,810) for the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version and RMB 379,800 for the battery electric vehicle (BEV) version.
Speaking about the market reception, Zhao highlighted the Denza D9’s appeal as a higher-end, more luxurious, and smarter alternative to the popular Toyota Alphard, particularly among celebrities in Hong Kong.
In addition to the D9, Denza introduced its Z9GT model in Hong Kong, a luxury flagship sedan aimed at global markets and already attracting significant interest with several orders placed on the spot.
Denza, a joint venture established in 2011 by BYD and Daimler, underwent a restructuring in 2022, resulting in BYD holding a 90 percent stake and Mercedes-Benz holding 10 percent. This change coincided with the rebranding of the Daimler brand as Mercedes-Benz.
The D9 marks the first model under Denza’s new brand identity, with the MPV achieving strong sales since its launch in August 2022, particularly in the PHEV variant.
