German logistics provider Dachser has begun integrating the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric truck into its long-distance transport operations, with the first seven vehicles handed over at Daimler Truck’s Wörth am Rhein plant. The trucks will be deployed from Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Dortmund, and Freiburg as part of Dachser’s ongoing efforts to decarbonize its logistics network.
The delivery is part of a 15-unit order placed with Mercedes-Benz Trucks, with the remaining eight trucks scheduled for deployment across additional Dachser locations and service partners in the coming months. The move marks a significant expansion in Dachser’s use of heavy-duty electric vehicles beyond pilot projects or short-haul tests.
“With the integration of the eActros 600 into regular operations, Dachser is sending out a strong signal for more sustainable transport solutions and underscoring its role as a driving force for the transition to emission-free logistics in Europe,” said Winfried Sorg, Centre Manager at the Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Centre in Neu-Ulm.
The eActros 600 is equipped with a 621 kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL and can achieve a range of up to 500 kilometres without recharging—more with intermediate charging. According to Daimler Truck, routes of “well over 1,000 kilometres” per day are feasible when combined with legally mandated driver breaks for intermediate charging.
Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics at Dachser, emphasized the strategic importance of electrifying long-distance transport: “Increasing the use of e-trucks on long-distance routes is one of our priorities. We are consistently pushing forward with the practical use of trucks with zero-emission drives, and the eActros 600 is another important component for this.”
Dachser currently operates over 140 electric trucks across Europe and continues to scale up deployment of electric models, including heavy-duty vehicles. Earlier this year, it added 12 MAN eTGX trucks and expanded electric transport through its subsidiary Brummer Logistik, which has been operating eActros 600s for mid-range food deliveries since 2023.
