Contipark and E.ON Partner to Install Over 4,000 Charging Points in Germany and Austria

Contipark, a parking operator, and E.ON, an energy company, have signed a cooperation agreement to install over 4,000 charging points in Germany and Austria between 2023 and 2025. The project will include AC wall boxes with a capacity of up to 22 kW.

The first charging point is expected to go into operation in February in Düsseldorf, where Contipark has six car parks. On average, 30 charging points will be installed per property, totaling 150 equipped Contipark facilities. E.ON Drive will provide full service for the charging points, while Contipark will provide high-traffic locations.

The companies plan to offer joint billing for parking and charging in the future. The charging points can be started with an RFID card or app and will accept credit card payments from summer 2023.

“As the market leader in the parking industry, it is our aspiration to actively shape the mobility of tomorrow. An important component of this will be electric mobility,” says Michael Kesseler, managing director of the Contipark group of companies. “That’s why, together with E.ON Drive, we want to bring electromobility onto the road – or rather: into the car park – and offer our customers the service of ‘e-parking’ in the future.”
