Contargo, a container logistics company, has integrated 20 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks into its operations, following the start of series production of the electric long-haul vehicle. The delivery, completed on December 20, is part of Contargo’s broader strategy to gradually transition its fleet toward electric vehicles.

The new trucks will be used across Contargo’s logistics network, which connects ports to customers in Germany and neighboring countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, and Switzerland.

The eActros 600 delivery increases the company’s electric truck fleet to 60 vehicles, with plans to expand to 90 by mid-2025. Contargo highlighted the vehicle’s potential to support sustainable logistics, emphasizing its suitability for heavy goods transport.

The eActros 600, introduced in October 2023, features a battery capacity exceeding 600 kWh and a range of up to 500 kilometers per charge. It is equipped with CCS fast charging at up to 400 kW and will support megawatt charging as standards evolve. Mercedes-Benz Trucks has announced plans to deliver 50 units of the eActros 600 in Germany by the end of 2024, with other logistics companies also taking delivery.

This development is part of Contargo’s long-term strategy to adopt more sustainable logistics solutions, aided by government subsidies for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
