Clean Motion has entered the Gulf electric vehicle market after signing an exclusive distribution agreement with Averroes Tech Manufacturing, a partnership centered on the company’s solar-assisted Evig vehicle and its ability to reduce dependence on charging infrastructure.

The agreement grants the Dubai-based company exclusive distribution rights across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and includes an initial order worth approximately SEK 8 million (US$800,000). The first shipment is scheduled for delivery by the end of the third quarter of 2026.

Solar Roof Targets Gulf Operating Conditions

Unlike many electric vehicles that compete primarily on driving range or purchase price, the Evig is designed around an integrated solar roof that continuously generates electricity while the vehicle is both parked and in motion.

The technology is intended to reduce reliance on dedicated charging infrastructure, making it particularly suited to regions with abundant sunlight and frequent short-distance urban journeys.

Clean Motion said the Gulf’s high levels of solar irradiation and dense city environments provide favorable operating conditions for the vehicle, while government initiatives supporting transport electrification are expected to accelerate demand.

Local Assembly Planned in UAE

Under the agreement, Evig vehicles will initially be supplied as completely knocked down (CKD) kits for assembly in the United Arab Emirates.

Vehicle deliveries will continue on a rolling basis through mid-2027.

The partnership also establishes a pathway toward local manufacturing, with the companies planning to negotiate a production license that would enable full-scale vehicle manufacturing in the UAE beginning in 2027.

The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding signed by the two companies in April and represents Clean Motion’s first commercial expansion into the Gulf region.

Christoffer Sveder, Chief Commercial Officer of Clean Motion, said the partnership marks the beginning of the company’s long-term regional strategy.

“This is the start of a long-term partnership. With demo vehicles in place, we launch our activities in the region right after the summer and build the market step by step together with Averroes.”

He added:

“We have had the Gulf region in our sights for a long time, and finally taking this step in an almost ideal market is truly inspiring. This is where our journey really takes off.”
