Classic Legends Private Limited (CLPL), the owner of the BSA brand, is reportedly working on a new BSA branded electric motorcycle. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto & Farm Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra, verified this news.
Classic Legends itself is owned by the Mahindra Group. “BSA is a very popular brand worldwide, and it will be the main focus to build a global business for Classic Legends, and there will also be an electric version of BSA,” Jejurikar said in a question.
BSA has previously launched the Gold Star, the latest classic motorcycle with a 650 cc single cylinder engine. BSA’s activities will be concentrated in the West Midlands area, where a new assembly plant will be established. BSA has not provided further information on the current state of assembly at the facility in the UK.
CLPL plans to build at least a few BSA motorcycles at its soon-to-open assembly plant in the UK, which will also make electric motorcycles under the BSA name. BSA received a £4.6 million grant from the UK government last year as part of a UK-wide low-carbon vehicle project. The CLPL plans to use this grant money to work on zero-emission motorcycles under the BSA brand.
