Xiaomi EV, the electric vehicle arm of Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, has revealed its second model, the YU7, ahead of its official launch slated for June or July next year. The SUV’s core specifications have been unveiled through a regulatory filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), bringing the YU7 closer to its anticipated market entry.
The YU7, identified by the model number XMA6500LBEVA1 in the MIIT catalog, will be produced at Xiaomi EV’s factory in Yizhuang, Beijing. The vehicle spans 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and stands 1,600 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
Weighing in at 2,405 kilograms, the YU7 boasts impressive performance with a top speed of 253 km/h. It is powered by dual electric motors, with the front motor generating a peak power of 220 kW and the rear motor 288 kW, delivering substantial power for the SUV.
The YU7 will utilize a lithium-ion ternary battery from CATL, though the battery capacity has yet to be disclosed. This model joins Xiaomi’s electric vehicle lineup following the success of its first model, the SU7, which surpassed its delivery target of 100,000 units by November 18, 2023. Xiaomi has set a new target of 130,000 SU7 deliveries for 2024.
With the YU7, Xiaomi continues its ambitious expansion in the EV market, aiming to compete in China’s rapidly growing electric vehicle sector. The YU7’s entry into the MIIT catalog is a critical step towards regulatory approval, with public feedback open until December 16.
