Chery-owned brand Jaecoo has unveiled its first fully electric vehicle in the UK, the Jaecoo E5 compact SUV, with prices starting at £27,505.

The model is positioned as the battery-electric version of the petrol-powered Jaecoo 5 and is built on Chery’s T1X platform, which also underpins Omoda and Exlantix cars. It carries a 61.1kWh battery, supports 80kW DC charging, and delivers a WLTP range of up to 248 miles. The company said charging from 30% to 80% can be achieved in 27 minutes on a fast charger, or overnight on an 11kW home unit.

Two trims are available: the Pure, starting at £27,505, with Level 2 driver assistance systems and manual front seats, and the Luxury at £30,505, which adds features such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and heated seats. Both versions include vehicle-to-load functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 540-degree camera system. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in October through Omoda & Jaecoo UK dealerships, with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty and an additional eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty.

“The JAECOO E5 is an exciting new chapter for us in the UK – a compact electric SUV that carries the same confident design and adventurous spirit as our petrol models, but with the refinement and flexibility that comes from zero-emission driving,” said Victor Zhang, UK Country Director JAECOO UK. “Following the success of our sister-brand’s OMODA E5, this new model extends that momentum, bringing the same flexibility and refinement to a more rugged, outdoors-focused SUV.”
