Electric vehicle infrastructure firm ChargePoint has introduced its latest home charging product, the Flex Plus, aimed specifically at company car drivers and fleet managers. The new charger is paired with ChargePoint’s Driver Management Solution, offering a comprehensive system for managing fleet charging, cost reimbursement, and usage data.
The Flex Plus is the first product to utilize the company’s newly developed AC charging architecture. It supports charging speeds of up to 19.2 kW and introduces features such as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) capabilities, smart home integration, and dynamic load balancing — which allows faster charging when household electricity demand is low.
ChargePoint emphasized that dynamic load balancing is especially advantageous for EV users, as it improves charging efficiency without compromising the power needs of other appliances in the home. The charger also includes a backplate mounting system that allows it to be moved and redeployed between locations, offering added flexibility for corporate fleets.
In parallel, the company is integrating its Driver Management Solution to work with the Flex Plus. The platform enables automated reimbursement for home charging using a built-in meter and supports VAT invoicing, driver onboarding, and the management of charging policies. Fleet managers can assign specific rules to different driver groups and monitor performance through a central dashboard.
ChargePoint noted that the Flex Plus aims to simplify the electric transition for company car drivers, with tools for finding and paying for public charging and managing home energy usage via the app or in-car systems.
“Fleet managers and company car drivers require a seamless experience to fully embrace their electric vehicles,” said ChargePoint’s Chief Technology Officer for hardware, Hossein Kazemi, adding that the integration of the new hardware with the company’s existing software suite is designed to streamline the charging process.
