Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) (SHE: 300750) has produced its one millionth battery pack for Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI), highlighting the scale and continuity of the companies’ partnership since the automaker’s founding.
The milestone was marked during an event attended by CATL’s and Li Auto’s top executives. CATL was the initial battery supplier for Li Auto and played a role in the company’s early product development strategy. Although Li Auto began working with other suppliers such as Sunwoda and Svolt Energy in 2023 with the launch of its Li L7 SUV, CATL continues to provide a significant portion of the automaker’s battery systems.
To date, nearly one million Li Auto vehicles equipped with CATL batteries have been delivered, with CATL reporting no battery-related safety incidents during that time. The company has supplied battery systems for more than 19.25 million vehicles globally as of April 2025.
Between January and April, CATL’s EV battery installations totaled 117.6 GWh, representing a 42.4 percent year-on-year increase, according to data from SNE Research. CATL remains the global leader in battery supply, holding a 38.1 percent market share—making it the only company with a share above 30 percent.
Li Auto’s current lineup includes five models, featuring extended-range SUVs and a fully electric MPV. In May, the company reported 40,856 deliveries, reflecting both year-on-year and month-on-month growth.
