CATL has launched its first experience center in Chengdu, Sichuan province, marking a significant step in the Chinese power battery giant’s efforts to engage directly with consumers. The 13,800-square-meter showroom, named Ning Space, is designed to offer a comprehensive look at electric vehicle (EV) models powered by CATL’s batteries, making it the world’s first new energy experience center according to the company.

The showroom features nearly 100 EV models from about 50 different car brands, including well-known names such as Nio’s ES8, ES6, ET7, ET5, and ET5 Touring, Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y, and Xiaomi’s SU7. This diverse collection allows visitors to explore a wide range of vehicles equipped with CATL’s battery technology.

In addition to showcasing these vehicles, Ning Space provides a wealth of information on the history and development of EVs, as well as the latest advancements in battery technology. The center also offers science workshops and personalized advice from EV experts, making it a continuous, interactive auto show experience for consumers.

Despite this increased engagement with the automotive market, CATL has made it clear that it has no intention of entering the car manufacturing business. Luo Jian, CATL’s general manager of marketing, stated, “The company will not join the ranks of making cars to compete with carmakers, nor will it sell cars,” emphasizing that the focus remains on supporting its automotive partners rather than becoming a competitor.

This approach contrasts with that of Huawei, another Chinese tech giant, which has stated that while it will not produce cars, it will assist automakers in selling them. Huawei has already launched multiple models in collaboration with car companies and is helping to sell these vehicles through its own channels.

Alongside the opening of Ning Space, CATL also introduced its new after-sales service brand, Ning Service. This service network includes 112 professional service stations that offer a range of services such as battery maintenance, health checks, and mobile rescue, further expanding CATL’s support for EV owners.
