Chinese battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL) has introduced its new commercial vehicle battery brand, Tianxing, aimed at revolutionizing the logistics and distribution industry. The announcement, made at a launch event, showcased two flagship products under the Tianxing L series.

The Tianxing L supercharging battery boasts a 140 kWh capacity with an energy density of 155 Wh/kg. CATL claims it supports 4C charging speeds, enabling a 60 percent charge in just 12 minutes, catering to time-sensitive applications. The battery is designed to endure eight years and 800,000 kilometers of use.

For long-distance transport needs, CATL unveiled the Tianxing L long-range battery, featuring a 200 kWh capacity and an energy density of 200 Wh/kg. It supports a range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge, suitable for scenarios where frequent charging opportunities are limited.

CATL’s Tianxing L series also includes battery packs ranging from 30 kWh to 200 kWh, covering distances from 150 km to 500 km. These batteries are universally compatible with supercharging and are slated for use in extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models.

Already adopted by 21 models from 13 automakers, CATL’s Tianxing L-series battery packs have entered mass production, signaling a strategic shift towards enhancing commercial vehicle performance and sustainability.
