Coulomb Solutions has introduced its latest commercial EV battery system, designed for trucks, buses, trains, and other heavy-duty applications in North America. The ‘Super Long Life’ (SLL) system comes with a 900,000-mile, 15-year warranty, offering extended operational reliability.

The battery system features a specific energy of 175 Wh/kg and an energy density of 270 Wh/L. Manufactured by Chinese battery giant CATL, the cells are assembled into battery packs by Coulomb for the North American market. The company is now accepting orders, with deliveries set to begin in September.

The SLL battery system is intended for a wide range of commercial vehicles, including last-mile delivery vans, transit and school buses, trains, as well as off-road and marine applications. OEM customers integrating the battery packs into their vehicles will receive support from Coulomb.

CATL previously launched a battery cell with similar specifications, the Tectrans B, in September 2024. Developed primarily for electric buses, that model also offers a 15-year lifespan and a range of up to 1.5 million kilometers.

Coulomb Solutions states that the SLL battery series aims to reduce the need for costly mid-life battery replacements, ensuring fleet operators have predictable vehicle battery costs throughout the vehicle’s lifespan.
