Nick Cassidy closed out his time with Jaguar in commanding style, securing a third win in four races and completing a weekend double at the season-ending Formula E London E-Prix on Sunday.
Starting from pole, the New Zealander led the field to take a dominant win at the ExCeL Centre. The victory marked Cassidy’s second of the weekend and capped off a strong finish to the season for Jaguar.
Meanwhile, Porsche sealed both the teams’ and manufacturers’ championships after world champion Oliver Rowland retired from the race following a collision. Both McLaren entries also retired, bringing an end to the team’s time in the electric series.
Mitch Evans initially crossed the line in second but was demoted to fifth after receiving a five-second penalty for speeding under full course yellow. As a result, Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries and Envision’s Sébastien Buemi were promoted to second and third, respectively.
Cassidy made a clean getaway from pole, while Maserati’s Edoardo Mortara retired at Turn 1 with a technical issue. Early race incidents included Dan Ticktum dropping out of contention due to a puncture and Nissan’s Norman Nato spinning McLaren’s Taylor Barnard.
Rowland’s hopes ended on lap 16 when he collided with ABT Cupra’s Nico Müller while rejoining the track after running wide, eliminating both drivers and ending Nissan’s slim title chances. Porsche had already secured both championships by the race’s midpoint.
Evans passed de Vries for second on lap 21 but was later penalized, pushing him back to fifth. McLaren’s Sam Bird and Barnard both failed to finish, capping off the team’s final appearance in the championship.
Cassidy ultimately crossed the line 13.5 seconds ahead of de Vries and Buemi. Jake Dennis placed fourth, followed by Evans. The top ten was rounded out by Antonio Felix da Costa, Maximilian Günther, Pascal Wehrlein, Lucas di Grassi, and David Beckmann, who scored his first point of the season.
