Cao Cao Mobility, the ride-hailing arm of Geely Holding Group, said its robotaxi fleet has reached 100 vehicles as the company moves into the next phase of its autonomous mobility strategy.
The 100th robotaxi began operations in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Feb. 11, marking a milestone in what the company describes as its Robotaxi 2.0 phase.
During this stage, Cao Cao plans to shift gradually from vehicles equipped with safety drivers to fully autonomous operations, while also testing hybrid service models that combine human-driven and driverless vehicles. The company said it aims to validate service reliability and optimize operational processes as fleet scale increases.
As part of the expansion, Cao Cao has launched its first “Green Intelligent Transit Island” in Hangzhou. The facility integrates automated battery swapping, self-cleaning systems, smart dispatching and automatic payment functions. According to the company, the site is intended to support large-scale robotaxi operations while maintaining fleet stability.
Cao Cao said it will next extend daily service hours and broaden coverage areas in Hangzhou.
The company is also pursuing international growth. It has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) to establish a local office in Abu Dhabi this year and collaborate with local partners on pilot projects focused on autonomous driving and green mobility technologies.
In late January, Cao Cao unveiled a five-year strategic plan targeting deployment of 100,000 robotaxis worldwide by 2030 and expansion into global commercial operations. The company is developing a purpose-built robotaxi model in partnership with Geely and other collaborators. The vehicle will feature a factory-installed autonomous driving system and is scheduled to debut later this year.
