Portuguese bus manufacturer CaetanoBus has secured a €11.6 million contract from Porto’s public transport operator STCP to deliver 30 e.City Gold electric buses. The order, finalised through an international tender, represents the second consecutive procurement of CaetanoBus’ latest battery‑electric model by STCP, following an earlier purchase of 20 units in 2024.
The 12‑metre e.City Gold buses can accommodate up to 88 passengers and are equipped with CATL’s BC5 lithium iron phosphate battery system, offering up to 465 kWh of installed capacity and fast‑charging capability. The vehicles use a six‑in‑one powertrain supplied by CRRC that integrates the motor and control components into a single unit, making the drive system up to 70% lighter, according to CaetanoBus.
“We are extremely proud to have been selected once again as the preferred supplier in a highly competitive international tender,” said Nuno Lago de Carvalho, member of the executive committee and CCO of CaetanoBus. “The supply of additional electric buses to STCP, a long‑standing partner with whom we have collaborated for decades, is particularly significant.”
The order reinforces CaetanoBus’ relationship with STCP, which operates a fleet comprising diesel, natural gas, and electric vehicles from the company. The new buses will debut publicly at Busworld 2025 in Brussels in October, where CaetanoBus plans to showcase the latest advancements of its zero‑emission e.City Gold platform.
