Cadillac to Launch Two New Electric Vehicles by Year’s End, Expanding EV Lineup

In a recent preview event held in Metro Detroit, Global Cadillac Vice President John Roth revealed that the luxury car manufacturer is set to introduce two additional electric vehicles (EVs) to its lineup before the close of the year. As the automotive world witnesses the impressive debut of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, the company is evidently committed to furthering its electric ambitions.

Although Roth did not divulge extensive details, sources suggest that one of these forthcoming models could be the Optiq. This compact crossover, which was recently unveiled by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, is positioned below the existing Lyriq model. Boasting dimensions that are 6.9 inches (175 mm) shorter and 5.5 inches (140 mm) more compact between the wheels than the Lyriq, the Optiq presents itself as an agile alternative.

Initial specifications for the Chinese version of the Optiq indicate that it will feature electric motors with power outputs spanning from 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) to 241 hp (180 kW / 245 PS). This is expected to enable the crossover to reach a maximum speed of 112 mph (180 km/h), catering to a diverse range of driving preferences.

While one model takes a well-defined shape, the other remains shrouded in mystery. Recent sightings of a camouflaged three-row crossover undergoing testing alongside the Escalade IQ have sparked intrigue. This upcoming model is anticipated to be a successor to the XT6 and aims to offer heightened accessibility in comparison to the brand’s flagship SUV, which is projected to command an approximate price point of $130,000.

Although information about this enigmatic three-row crossover is scarce, it is anticipated to draw inspiration from the smaller Lyriq model. Known for its 102 kWh battery pack, the Lyriq offers the choice between rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. The latter setup boasts an impressive 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS) and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque, underlining the brand’s commitment to delivering high-performance electric options.
