Cadillac has opened a new state-of-the-art design space for buyers of its new electric flagship, the Celestiq. The design space, located at the GM Global Technical Center campus in Warren, Michigan, will provide customers with a highly personalized and elevated design experience.
The new facility, called Cadillac House at Vanderbilt, offers customers the opportunity to work directly with Celestiq designers and a concierge to create a one-of-a-kind commissioning experience. Each Celestiq is personally commissioned and tailored to reflect the owner’s tastes.
Melissa Grady Dias, global chief marketing officer at Cadillac, said, “From start to finish, the process is meticulously curated, and regardless of where clients choose to collaborate with the Cadillac team, we will offer an extraordinary variety of commission options, ensuring every desire for their vehicle can be fulfilled.”
Located within a National Historic Landmark-designated campus, the Cadillac House at Vanderbilt is a mid-century modernist building designed by celebrated architect Eero Saarinen. The building won an Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects when it was erected in 1955.
The new design space is named after Suzanne Vanderbilt, one of the few women working in automotive design in the 1950s. Vanderbilt joined GM in 1955 and worked in the Cadillac studio, where she helped design vehicles such as the 1958 Eldorado Seville Coupe and the Cadillac Saxony Convertible.
Cadillac House at Vanderbilt will welcome its first clients in the late summer of 2023, with even virtual clients being assisted by employees working from the space. The cars will be hand-built by a team of experienced craftspeople at the nearby Artisan Center.
Bryan Nesbitt, executive director of Global Cadillac Design, said, “It’s a unique opportunity to collaborate with our design team, enabling clients to directly translate their vision of their Celestiq into a one-of-one piece of moving sculpture.”
Cadillac’s new design space offers a bespoke and elevated experience for Celestiq buyers, giving them the opportunity to work directly with designers to create a one-of-a-kind vehicle tailored to their personal preferences.
