After an extensive period of anticipation and preparation, the highly awaited launch date for Denza’s inaugural SUV under BYD’s premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand has been revealed.

Denza took to Weibo today to announce that the Denza N7 will officially debut on July 3, slightly adjusting the initial plans for its release. Zhao Changjiang, Denza’s General Manager of Sales, had previously stated on May 30 that the official launch of the Denza N7 would take place in late June, with deliveries commencing in July.

While Denza refrained from disclosing additional details about the N7 during this announcement, the brand has been actively generating excitement for the model over the past few months.

On March 6, Denza unveiled the official images of the N7, swiftly followed by its inclusion in a regulatory filing list on March 9.

According to the regulatory filing, the Denza N7 is a 5-seat SUV measuring 4,860 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,602 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm.

The Denza N7 will be available in four different versions, including two single-motor options and two dual-motor variants. The former boasts a peak motor power of 230 kW, while the latter offers an additional peak motor power of 160 kW.

Denza, established as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler in February 2011 with both entities initially holding a 50 percent stake, witnessed BYD increase its shareholding to 90 percent last year. Notably, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz in February 2022.

In August 2022, Denza released its first model following the reorganization, the D9 MPV. The Denza N7, the brand’s second model following the change in shareholding, marks Denza’s entry into the SUV segment.

Last year on December 20, Zhao announced on Weibo that the Denza N7 aimed to target the market of traditional internal combustion engine vehicles priced around RMB 400,000 yuan ($55,440).

Zhao further revealed on March 26 that numerous customers expressed a desire for the prompt launch of the Denza N7. Based on inquiry volume data, it was projected that the model would receive 30,000 orders prior to its mid-year release.

By June 13, the Denza N7 had already accumulated over 20,000 pre-orders, even before specifications and pricing details were made public.

On June 20, Denza celebrated a milestone as the first production units of the N7 rolled off the assembly line, setting the stage for the imminent launch.

Most recently, on June 25, Zhao shared on Weibo that he had experienced the latest version of the N7’s self-parking system and highlighted that the model would be capable of handling exceptionally challenging scenarios.

Denza’s sole model currently available for delivery, the Denza D9, achieved impressive sales of 11,005 units in May, marking the third consecutive month of surpassing 10,000 units, as per earlier data releases this month.
