A BYD executive provided details on the company’s plans to launch a premium sub-brand. Li Yunfei, general manager of BYD Auto’s brand and PR division, said on Weibo that the BYD premium sub-brand and its logo will be unveiled in the third quarter and the first model will be introduced in the fourth quarter.

BYD’s premium sub-brand will use cutting-edge technology and represent its strongest capabilities in electrification and intelligence, he said.

For the price, BYD premium sub-brand products are in the RMB 800,000 ($119,520) – RMB 1.5 million ($224,450) range, Li said.

BYD premium sub-brand will be independent of its product, operations team and sales and service network, Li added.

BYD’s passenger car business consists of Dynasty, Ocean, Denza and premium sub-brands, which are wholly owned and operated by BYD except for Denza which is a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz.
