BYD will supply electric vehicles batteries for NIO and Xiaomi Auto

BYD’s battery division, FinDreams Battery, is said to be a battery supplier to electric vehicle companies in China. FinDreams Battery seems to be supplying manufacturers like NIO and even Xiaomi Auto.

However, the three companies have not commented on this until now. One source added that “the designated partnership between NIO and FinDreams Battery was completed before the Spring Festival, using BYD-made lithium iron phosphate batteries.” Furthermore, it was also revealed that in the second half of last year, several NIO employees had frequently visited BYD’s company location in Shenzhen.

On the other hand, Xiaomi Auto is a relatively new electric vehicle manufacturer. Reporting from Gizmochina (29/3), the company has also signed a partnership agreement with FinDreams Battery. As per reports, the first electric car will have two sets of configurations.

The low-end model comes with a BYD 400V blade battery voltage platform. While the high-end model will come with a platform voltage of 800V. High-end models may also use products from the leading Chinese battery maker, CATL. However, the details for this deal are currently unknown.

Previously, CATL was the exclusive supplier of electric car batteries for NIO. However, the head of the company, Li Bin, has publicly stated that the battery has been a limiting factor in its production capacity.
