BYD, the renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially launched the highly anticipated 2023 Yuan Pro compact SUV. This model is an improved version of the original Yuan Pro, which was initially introduced in March 2021.
The 2023 Yuan Pro comes in three different versions, each with its own starting price. The prices for the base models start at RMB 95,800 ($13,500), while the higher trims are priced at RMB 105,800 and RMB 113,800, respectively.
Pre-sales for the 2023 Yuan Pro began on April 7, with pre-sale prices set at RMB 99,800, RMB 109,800, and RMB 119,800 for the three versions, respectively.
What’s noteworthy is that the launch prices for all three versions of the 2023 Yuan Pro have been reduced compared to the pre-sale prices. The reductions amount to RMB 4,000, RMB 4,000, and RMB 6,000 for each respective version.
In terms of dimensions, the 2023 Yuan Pro boasts a length of 4,375 mm, a height of 1,785 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,535 mm. It retains the distinct Dragon Face 3.0 design language, which was a highlight of the previous model.
Under the hood, the 2023 Yuan Pro is built on the BYD e-Platform 3.0 and features an electric motor capable of generating a maximum power of 70 kW and a peak torque of 180 Nm. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
The SUV is available in two different range versions, offering a CLTC range of 320 km and 401 km, respectively. This is made possible by the inclusion of a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with capacities of 38 kWh and 47.04 kWh.
Furthermore, the 2023 BYD Yuan Pro supports DC fast charging, allowing users to recharge from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
It’s worth noting that the previous iteration of the BYD Yuan Pro was launched on March 21, 2021, with subsidized prices set at RMB 121,300 and RMB 131,400 for the respective versions.
In China, subsidies for the purchase of new energy vehicles (NEVs) will expire by the end of 2022. However, the country’s purchase tax exemption for such models has been extended until the end of this year.
According to data released on May 2, BYD recorded impressive sales figures in April. The company sold a total of 210,295 NEVs during the month, representing a significant 98.31 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Moreover, this figure signifies a 1.55 percent increase from the previous month’s sales of 207,080 units.
Among the various models in the Yuan family, a total of 39,160 units were sold in April, making it the second best-selling model for BYD. This marks a remarkable 158.18 percent year-on-year growth, despite a slight decrease of 3.07 percent compared to March.
Additionally, the Qin family of models achieved record-breaking sales in April, with a total of 42,202 units sold. This makes the Qin family the highest-selling model range for BYD in that month.
It’s important to note that while sales figures for the Yuan Plus, another model in the Yuan family, are not available, it remains a significant part of the lineup.
