BYD has resumed its ambitious expansion of bringing electric passenger vehicles outside of China. Having previously stated that it will be present in Europe to be precise in Germany and Sweden, the Chinese vehicle giant will be present in Israel with Shlomo Motors as its electric vehicle distributor. With the deal, consumers in Israel can expand their orders for BYD electric vehicles from August.

In the early stages, two BYD showrooms will open in Petach Tikva and Haifa in September, according to the company. It will open showrooms in Jerusalem and Be’er Sheva in December. Sales and after-sales services must be handled through the Shlomo location.

Previously, BYD had announced that it would enter the electric passenger vehicle market in Germany and Sweden as well as in the Netherlands. As in the three countries above, it is not known what model will be marketed for the Israeli market.

One thing is for sure, for the Israeli market, the first ship carrying BYD electric vehicles is scheduled to arrive at the port of Eilat in the third quarter.

Shlomo Motors is not a new name for BYD. Previously, for a decade, Shlomo was responsible for the distribution of BYD electric buses in Israel.
