Chinese new energy vehicle maker BYD announced plans to sell electric vehicles in Sweden and Germany from October 2022.

Previously, the Chinese auto giant had announced that it would enter the Japanese market.

For the European market BYD currently sells the Tang electric SUV in Norway, and many expect one of Tesla’s competitors to offer the Tang SUV in other European countries.

Tang is built on the BYD e-platform 3.0 and uses an LFP battery with cell-to-pack technology. BYD itself has not confirmed the electric vehicle models they are bringing to Germany and Sweden

BYD only confirmed that it will sell plug-in passenger cars in the new market and partnered with Hedin Mobility Group as a distributor.

Hedin Mobility Group is one of the largest private dealers in Europe, with more than 230 stores in eight countries. Hedin Mobility Group plans to open its first location in Germany in October and launch stores in Sweden and Germany starting from Stockholm. Sales begin in October 2022, with first deliveries starting in Q4 2022.

It seems that BYD is indeed planning a massive expansion globally. Previously, BYD announced that it would enter the electric vehicle market in Japan by offering three passenger vehicles.

The company also plans to have a presence on the Dutch electric vehicle market in September. BYD also recently shipped 1,000 BYD Atto 3 for the Australian market.
