BYD has released the first official teaser images of a new flagship sedan for its Dynasty lineup, signaling the company’s latest effort to expand its presence in China’s premium new energy vehicle market.
The camouflage-covered vehicle was unveiled by Lu Tian, general manager of sales for BYD’s Dynasty series, who shared the images on social media while continuing a public naming campaign for the upcoming model.

New Flagship Sedan for Dynasty Lineup
The new vehicle will become the first D-class flagship sedan in BYD’s Dynasty family, elevating the brand’s position in the premium passenger car segment.
While BYD has not yet disclosed technical specifications, the model is expected to serve as the sedan counterpart to the upcoming Datang SUV, which is also positioned as a flagship offering within the Dynasty portfolio.
The company recently invited users to help select the model’s official name. After several rounds of voting, six candidate names advanced to the final stage.

Among the options, “Dahan” (Great Han) has emerged as the leading choice.
The proposed name would build on the success of the Han sedan, currently the flagship sedan in BYD’s Dynasty lineup, while reinforcing the company’s Dynasty-themed branding strategy.
Following the Datang SUV Launch
The new sedan arrives as BYD prepares to officially launch the Datang SUV later this month in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province.
Positioned as the Dynasty lineup’s first D-class flagship SUV, the Datang entered pre-sales in April with pricing ranging from 250,000 yuan ($36,970) to 320,000 yuan for higher-spec variants.

BYD said Datang secured more than 30,000 orders within 24 hours of pre-sales opening and accumulated over 100,000 pre-orders during its first two weeks on the market.
Advanced EV Technologies
The Datang showcases several of BYD’s latest technologies, many of which could potentially be featured in the upcoming flagship sedan.
The SUV is equipped with the company’s second-generation Blade Battery, a 1,000-volt high-voltage electrical architecture, and megawatt-level ultra-fast charging capability.
BYD says the pure-electric version of the Datang can deliver up to 950 kilometers of driving range under Chinese testing standards.
Sales Recovery Gains Momentum
The launch of new premium models comes as BYD’s sales performance shows signs of improvement following several months of slower growth.
The company sold 383,453 new energy vehicles on a wholesale basis in May, representing a modest year-on-year increase of 0.26% and ending an eight-month period of declining sales growth.

One of the strongest contributors to performance was overseas demand.
BYD’s international sales reached a record 160,644 vehicles in May, surging 80.4% compared with the same period last year as the automaker continues expanding its global footprint.
Capacity Constraints Easing
Production capacity is also improving as BYD completes the transition from its first-generation Blade Battery technology to the second-generation system.
The company has been upgrading production lines to support the new battery platform, a process that temporarily constrained output.
With most upgrades completed during May, BYD is expected to gradually increase vehicle production and improve supply availability in the coming months.
Premium Models Seen as Profit Drivers
The Datang SUV and upcoming flagship sedan are expected to play an important role in strengthening BYD’s profitability.
The automaker reported a sharp decline in first-quarter net profit amid intense competition in China’s electric vehicle market, where aggressive pricing strategies and higher supply chain costs have pressured margins across the industry.
By expanding its presence in higher-priced vehicle segments, BYD aims to improve product mix, enhance profitability, and strengthen its position in China’s increasingly competitive premium EV market.
