BYD recorded new energy vehicle (NEV) sales of 201,259 units in September 2022. This is a record sale for the seventh month in a row and for the first time the number has exceeded 200,000 units, the company announced today on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Compared to September last year, this month’s sales rose 183.07 percent from 71,099 units in September 2021. When compared to last August, it rose 15.06 percent from 174,915 units last month,
Of the sales of 201,259 NEV in September 2022, 200,973 units were passenger vehicles and the remaining 286 units were commercial vehicles.
For the passenger vehicle category, sales of pure electric vehicles (BEV) were 94,941 units, up 161.5 percent from 36,306 units in the same month last year. Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) were 106,032 units, up 214.49 percent from 33,716 units in the same period last year.
For exports, BYD sold 7,736 NEV in September, up 51.92 percent from 5,092 units in August. In recent months BYD has been active in entering the markets of several countries Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Israel including Europe with their three electric vehicles, namely BYD Atto 3, BYD Han, and BYD Tang. The European markets that NEV BYD vehicles enter are Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany.
From January to September, BYD’s cumulative NEV sales were 1,180,054 units, up 249.56% from 337,579 units in the same period last year.
