BYD announced a partnership with German car rental company SIXT, which will buy 100,000 electric vehicles from the Chinese auto giant over the next six years.

For the initial stage, this partnership will be realized with orders for thousands of BYD electric vehicles which will begin to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2022.

A total of 100,000 BYD electric vehicles will be delivered to Germany over the next six years, according to a BYD press release.

For the initial stage, SIXT will receive the BYD Atto 3, an electric SUV based on e-Platform 3.0 and known in China as Yuan Plus.

BYD sells a record 201,259 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in September, up 183.07% year-on-year. SIXT customers who will experience BYD electric vehicles include customers in Germany, France, the Netherlands and the UK.

BYD itself has been present in Europe for more than a decade with zero-emission public transport. BYD has officially entered the passenger car market in Europe by bringing three electric vehicles at once.

With nearly 2,100 branches in more than 100 countries, SIXT offers a wide range of premium services – from car rental, car sharing and ride-hailing services to car subscriptions. SIXT targets 70 to 90 percent of its fleet to be electric vehicles by 2030.
