BYD’s European division has partnered with financial services provider DLL to broaden financing options for its electric trucks and buses, aiming to accelerate adoption of zero-emission commercial vehicles across the region. The initiative will initially cover nine markets, including Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Ireland, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
The collaboration builds on an existing relationship that began in 2025, when DLL started financing BYD commercial vehicles. Under the expanded agreement, customers will gain access to a wider suite of funding solutions, including operating leases, finance leases, and traditional loans. DLL, headquartered in Eindhoven, said the programme will be extended to additional European countries over time.

“By becoming BYD’s preferred funder for trucks, buses, and forklift trucks, we are helping accelerate the adoption of sustainable transport solutions across Europe,” said Mike Kinka, President of DLL’s Construction, Transport and Industry business unit.
BYD has established a strong presence in Europe’s electric bus market and operates a manufacturing facility in Hungary. Its electric truck business, however, is still developing. Models currently available include the light-duty BYD ETM6 and the medium-duty BYD ETH8, both imported into the region, with broader deployment yet to occur.

Executive Vice President Stella Li said the financing partnership is intended to reduce barriers for fleet operators transitioning to low-emission vehicles. “Partnering with DLL will ensure our customers have access to flexible financing options, making the shift to lower-emission fleets easier and more affordable,” she said.
The ETM6 is a 7.5-tonne electric truck offering a payload of up to about four tonnes and a range of roughly 200 kilometres from a 126 kWh battery. The larger ETH8, configured as a 4×2 medium-duty truck with a gross vehicle weight of up to 19 tonnes, can carry nearly 11 tonnes and travel up to about 250 kilometres on a 255 kWh battery. BYD does not yet offer a heavy-duty 40-tonne electric truck in Europe.

Industry observers say access to competitive financing will be critical for scaling electric commercial vehicles, which typically carry higher upfront costs than diesel models but lower operating expenses over time.
