BYD officially launched the Seal 06 EV, its newest affordable electric sedan, at the Chongqing auto show, further broadening its popular Seal family under the Ocean series.
The Seal 06 EV, positioned as a sister model to the Qin L EV from BYDâs Dynasty series, offers three variants priced from RMB 109,800 ($15,270) to RMB 129,800. All versions feature BYDâs lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade batteries with capacities ranging from 46.08 kWh to 56.64 kWh, delivering CLTC ranges between 470 km and 545 km.

Measuring 4,720 mm long with a 2,820 mm wheelbase, the midsize sedan is rear-wheel drive with motor peak power ratings of 110 kW to 160 kW. The entry-level model accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in 4.1 seconds, while the higher variants achieve the same in 3.1 seconds. The Seal 06 supports fast charging at a peak power of 103 kW, capable of charging from 30 to 80 percent in 24 minutes.
The sedan is equipped with BYDâs God’s Eye C smart driving system, featuring the DiPilot 100 camera-based smart driving solution that operates without LiDAR technology.

The Seal lineup, initially launched as an all-electric sedan, has expanded to include multiple variants, such as hybrids (Seal 05 DM-i, Seal 06 DM-i, Seal 07 DM-i) and electric models (Seal 06 GT, the original Seal). Prices across the family range from RMB 79,800 to RMB 239,800.
In May, BYD sold 382,476 vehicles, marking a 15.27 percent year-on-year increase. The Seal family contributed 25,587 units to this total, up 78.79 percent year-over-year, though showing a slight 1.78 percent decline from April.
