BYD has officially introduced the Seal 06 DM-i Touring Edition, a wagon-style variant of its hybrid sedan, further expanding the Seal family in China’s growing new energy vehicle (NEV) market. Launched at an event today, the new model is priced from RMB 109,800 ($15,320) and is available in three trim levels.
Based on BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid platform, the Touring Edition builds on the Seal 06 DM-i sedan that debuted in May. The new wagon offers a longer and taller body, measuring 4,850 mm in length and 1,505 mm in height, providing increased cargo space while maintaining a 2,790 mm wheelbase.

Power comes from a 1.5-liter gasoline engine rated at 74 kW, paired with an electric motor available in either 120 kW or 160 kW outputs. The vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 7.7 seconds, depending on the configuration.
The Touring Edition features BYD’s blade battery technology, offering an electric range of 80 kilometers on the base model and 150 kilometers on higher trims. It supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in just 25 minutes and includes an external power supply function. When fully charged and fueled, the model delivers a combined range of up to 2,000 kilometers and consumes 3.15 liters per 100 kilometers when operating in fuel-only mode.

The vehicle maintains the styling language of the sedan version but with a higher roofline at the rear to accommodate greater storage. This makes it one of the few wagon-type hybrids in the Chinese market, where traditional sedans and SUVs continue to dominate. However, recent offerings from competitors like Zeekr and Nio have signaled growing interest in this body style.
The Seal 06 DM-i Touring Edition adds to BYD’s expanding Seal lineup, which now includes multiple hybrid and pure electric models such as the Seal 05 DM-i, Seal 07 DM-i, Seal 06 EV, and Seal 06 GT. The addition of a wagon variant further diversifies BYD’s product strategy as it targets more niche segments in the competitive NEV landscape.
