BYD has rolled out the 2026 model year Seal 07 DM-i, introducing wider range options, updated dimensions and lower prices as it seeks to broaden the appeal of its hybrid sedan.

The new Seal 07 DM-i is offered in four trims, with two providing a 135-km battery range and two offering 230 km. Prices start at RMB 149,800 ($21,040) and rise to RMB 186,800. The previous model, launched in August 2024, had five trims priced between RMB 139,800 and RMB 195,800, most of which delivered a 125-km electric range.

The updated model’s adjustments to specifications and pricing structure are expected to boost its sales performance, BYD said at the launch event.

The latest version features larger dimensions at 4,995 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, while retaining a 2,900 mm wheelbase. Its predecessor was slightly smaller at 4,980 mm long and 1,890 mm wide.

The entry-level variant uses a 1.5L engine with 74 kW of output combined with a 160 kW electric motor, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.0 seconds. The higher three trims are powered by a 1.5T engine rated at 115 kW and a 200 kW motor, reducing the 0-100 km/h time to 6.9 seconds.

Battery packs differ across variants, with the 135-km models fitted with a 17.6-kWh blade battery, while the 230-km versions carry a 29.46-kWh unit. BYD has also expanded its DiSus chassis control system, offering DiSus-C on all but the entry-level version.

Driver assistance features are enhanced, with three trims equipped with the God’s Eye C system based on DiPilot 100, while the highest-priced model integrates LiDAR via the DiPilot 300 system to support piloted driving on urban roads.

The Seal 07 DM-i is BYD’s first mid-to-large sedan built with fifth-generation Dual Mode (DM) hybrid technology, which the company says improves fuel efficiency.
