Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has expanded its presence in the Nepalese market with the launch of its electric sedan, the Seal.
Partnering with local dealer Cimex Inc, BYD introduced the Seal at a starting price of NPR 10.5 million ($79,275), marking its third electric model in Nepal, following the Atto 3 and Dolphin.

Based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the Seal distinguishes itself as the company’s inaugural model utilizing CTB (cell to body) technology. In China, the Seal is available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and hybrid Seal DM-i versions, with the former offered in five variants ranging from RMB 189,800 to RMB 279,800.
BYD has been actively exploring the Nepalese market since 2018 when the BYD e6 entered the presidential fleet. In October 2022, BYD officially entered the passenger car market in Nepal with the Atto 3, known as the Yuan Plus in China.

Subsequently, in September 2023, the company launched the compact electric vehicle Dolphin in Nepal, representing the first product in BYD’s Ocean series and based on the e-Platform 3.0.
