BYD Expands Presence in Saudi Arabia with Opening of First Showroom

Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD has inaugurated its inaugural showroom in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant step in its expansion into the Middle Eastern market.

The showroom, located in Riyadh’s Al Ghader district, was opened on May 28, showcasing BYD’s latest models and offerings. The facility, which includes a showroom, discovery center, and service center, was established in collaboration with local distributor Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company.

Customers visiting the showroom can test drive five models, including the Han EV, Atto 3 (Yuan Plus in China), Seal EV, Qin Plus, and Song Plus. The first three models are battery electric vehicles (BEVs), while the latter two are plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

BYD’s entry into Saudi Arabia aligns with the country’s vision to increase the share of NEVs in Riyadh to 30 percent by 2030, as highlighted by Huang Zhixue, general manager of BYD’s Middle East Africa automotive sales division. Huang emphasized BYD’s commitment to partnering with Al-Futtaim to establish a local new energy ecosystem.

With a team of over 100 people, BYD is poised to expand its presence in Saudi Arabia, with plans to open more stores across the country. The company officially announced its entry into the Saudi Arabian market on February 20, showcasing its range of NEVs.

BYD’s NEVs are currently available in over 80 countries and regions worldwide, reflecting the company’s global reach and commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.

BYD recorded strong sales growth in the NEV sector, with 939,508 NEVs sold in January-April, marking a 23.24 percent year-on-year increase. This included 434,579 passenger BEVs, up 17.77 percent, and 501,867 PHEVs, up 29.22 percent. Overseas sales also surged, with 138,910 vehicles sold in international markets, reflecting a 159.40 percent year-on-year increase.
