BYD  has officially entered the El Salvador passenger car market. The company held a brand launch event in El Salvador to announce its market debut.

BYD has opened its first store in the country, showcasing models such as the Seagull, Yuan Up, Seal, Song Pro DM-i, and Song Plus DM-i. The vehicles will be distributed through a local dealer, with Energy Motors as BYD’s regional partner.

Audrey Li, vice president of BYD America and regional managing director of BYD Latin America, commented, “We believe that El Salvador, a country full of potential and opportunity, will benefit from our collaboration with local dealers.”

BYD plans to expand its NEV product lineup in El Salvador and further promote green mobility solutions in Central America and the Caribbean. This move follows the company’s recent introduction of four models in Guatemala in November 2024.

In 2024, BYD reported sales of 4,272,145 units, marking a 41.26 percent increase year-on-year. Of these, 4,250,370 units were passenger NEVs, reflecting a 41.07 percent growth. Additionally, the company saw a 71.86 percent increase in international sales, with 417,204 units sold abroad.
