BYD, a electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has successfully delivered the initial batch of 100 units of the Yuan Plus, its first global EV model, in Mexico. This significant milestone was achieved through collaborative efforts between BYD and three prominent dealers: Continental, Dalton, and Liverpool, which operate stores in Mexico City and Guadalajara.
The Yuan Plus, featuring BYD’s innovative e-Platform 3.0, was initially introduced in China on February 19, 2022, as the world’s first A-class SUV to incorporate this advanced technology. In several other international markets, the model is known as the Atto 3; however, for the Mexican market, BYD has opted to retain the original name used in China.
Zou Zhou, the country manager of BYD Mexico, expressed his excitement about this achievement, stating, “We are delighted to announce the simultaneous delivery of 100 BYD YUAN PLUS vehicles in Mexico City and Guadalajara. This milestone underscores the growing interest and demand for sustainable and efficient electric vehicles among Mexican consumers.”
Notably, the BYD Yuan Plus has already been made available in various markets worldwide, including Australia, Mongolia, Nepal, and Jordan. The Chinese version of the model measures 4,455 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.
Equipped with a motor boasting a peak power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 310 Nm, the BYD Yuan Plus offers impressive performance, achieving an acceleration time of 0-100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds.
In February, BYD announced a strategic auto finance partnership with Santander Bank in Mexico, enabling the provision of a comprehensive range of auto finance solutions to local dealers. Furthermore, BYD and Santander Bank will offer Mexican consumers various financial services for new energy vehicle (NEV) purchases, including down payments as low as 10 percent, installment plans of up to 72 months, and waived application fees for vehicle purchase loans, as outlined in a previous press release.
The successful delivery of the first batch of BYD Yuan Plus EVs in Mexico represents a significant step forward in the country’s transition towards sustainable mobility solutions. With the growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles, BYD continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the automotive industry.
