The BYD Atto 3, just got a 5 star rating in terms of safety after passing tests conducted by Euro NCAP or the European New Car Rating Program.

The NCAP score for BYD is 91 percent for adult passenger protection, 84 percent for child passenger protection, 69 percent for protection of vulnerable road users, and 80 percent for safety assistance features.

“This five-star NCAP safety rating for the BYD Atto 3 will no doubt be welcome news for New Zealand buyers seeking a safe and environmentally friendly option within its price point,” said NCAP chief executive Carla Hoorweg.

NCAP said the full score was achieved for the protection provided to the driver in the side impact and far side impact tests. Whiplash protection for front and rear seat passengers also scored highly, and maximum points were achieved for child passenger protection in side collision and frontal offset tests.

The Atto 3’s active safety capabilities prove to be of “high standard”, with an autonomous emergency braking system that detects pedestrians and cyclists offering “good levels of performance in forward, reverse, day and night testing. scenario”.
