Buick has recently introduced two new all-electric crossovers. The latest addition to the lineup is the Electra E4, which was unveiled today. Boasting an elegant design and a luxurious interior, the Electra E4 demonstrates Buick’s commitment to providing premium electric vehicles.
Described by Buick as “premium and sporty,” the exterior of the Electra E4 draws inspiration from the Electra-X concept. The slim “checkmark” headlights, a prominent lower grille, and a sharp nose resemble its larger sibling, the Electra E5.
However, the Electra E4 sets itself apart with a more sloping roofline, creating a distinctive and sporty crossover coupe appearance. Additionally, China’s Autohome reports that the vehicle boasts a commendable coefficient of drag of 0.287, contributing to improved aerodynamics and energy efficiency.
While specific details regarding the driving range remain undisclosed, it has been confirmed that the Electra E4 will utilize lithium iron phosphate batteries, which have slightly lower energy density compared to lithium-ion batteries.
According to information released by the Chinese government in January, the Electra E4 will feature a 241 horsepower (180 kW/245 PS) electric motor. There are expectations that a dual-motor version will be introduced later in the lineup, providing enhanced performance options.
Regardless of its power output, the Electra E4 offers a sleek and modern interior, flooded with ample natural light through its 13-square-foot (1.2 square meters) glass canopy. Buick has utilized low-radiation glass to provide occupants with industry-leading UV protection.
Technological advancements are showcased through a striking 30-inch curved screen, seamlessly integrating the infotainment system and the driver display. With a 6K resolution and powered by a Snapdragon 8155 chip, the screen ensures lightning-fast response times.
Occupants of the Electra E4 will also benefit from wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a captivating 121-color ambient lighting system. Additionally, a voice assistant feature allows drivers to accomplish tasks without diverting their attention from the road.
While the exact launch date for the Electra E4 remains unknown, reports indicate a price range of 200,000-300,000 yuan ($28,000 – $42,000 USD based on current exchange rates). Buick’s latest all-electric offering aims to deliver a premium driving experience and cater to the growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles in the Chinese market.
