British design and engineering company CALLUM has officially introduced its latest creation, the CALLUM SKYE, marking the firm's inaugural venture into proprietary vehicle development. The SKYE, a multi-terrain electric vehicle (EV), is designed, engineered, and conceived entirely in-house by CALLUM.
Measuring 4,047mm in length and 1,900mm in width, the SKYE boasts a rugged space frame chassis accompanied by trail-capable suspension, providing both sufficient ground clearance and comfort across diverse terrains.
Equipped with a 42kWh lithium-ion battery, the SKYE is estimated to achieve a range of 170 miles. Additionally, customers have the option to select an advanced, ultra-fast charging battery capable of completing a full charge in under ten minutes. The vehicle is anticipated to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than four seconds.
The CALLUM SKYE is currently undergoing rigorous engineering refinement and testing in the UK and Europe. Detailed specifications and curated variants are expected to be revealed in the spring of 2024.
Ian Callum, the Head of Design at CALLUM, expressed, “At four meters long, the CALLUM SKYE showcases dramatic proportions with a concise exterior aesthetic driven by its capabilities. It has been designed to exceed expectations, offering minimal mass, maximum capability – exceptionally usable and an absolute joy to drive.”
David Fairbairn, the Managing Director at CALLUM, commented on the SKYE's market positioning, stating, “The CALLUM SKYE addresses a void in the market, providing discerning owners with a boldly engineered off-road vehicle that invites enjoyment, offering a sense of fun, freedom, and escapism. With its boutique craftsmanship and battery options, our ambition is for the CALLUM SKYE to make a substantial impact on the industry, while ensuring it maintains a positive environmental profile.”
