Bosch introduced a new theft prevention feature for its e-bike batteries at CES 2025, allowing owners to digitally lock their batteries through the company’s Flow+ app.
This enhancement aims to bolster security by automatically locking the battery when the e-bike is turned off. If a stolen battery is used on another Bosch e-bike, it will render the bike’s motor support inoperable, making the bike unusable.
The new locking feature will be available later this summer through an over-the-air update for Bosch e-bikes equipped with the company’s smart system.
In addition to this digital lock, Bosch is also enabling owners to create digital keys, allowing friends and family to access and use their e-bikes. Bosch’s suite of security options also includes smartphone-based locking systems, an alarm system, and traditional mechanical locking methods for the batteries.
Bosch also revealed an AI-powered feature that lets e-bike riders set a desired charge level to be reached by the end of their ride.
While details about how this feature will function remain limited, it promises to manage the battery and motor to achieve the target charge, potentially enhancing user convenience and optimizing battery life.
