Swedish electric boat manufacturer, X Shore, is set to release its latest model, the X Shore 1, which promises to be lighter, more affordable, and highly efficient. This achievement is made possible through a collaboration with Bosch Engineering, a subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH.

In an official announcement made today, the two companies revealed their joint effort to optimize the electric drive system of the X Shore 1, aiming to improve its overall performance and energy efficiency.

Bosch has played a crucial role in developing the drivetrain for the new electric boat. Notably, the X Shore 1 features Bosch’s largest motor designed specifically for leisure boat applications, along with their advanced inverter and gearbox, which were developed and manufactured by Bosch Rexroth.

Jenny Keisu, the CEO of X Shore, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “At X Shore, we continuously seek innovative collaborations to further our mission of creating a more sustainable boating industry and a greener world. We firmly believe that innovation has no limits, and by joining forces with other innovative companies, both large and small, we can push the boundaries of what is possible.”

Keisu emphasized the company’s commitment to constant innovation and its dedication to fostering partnerships that encourage knowledge sharing and expertise leveraging. X Shore is excited to support Bosch Engineering in their sustainability mission and, together, they aim to introduce cutting-edge electric drive system technology to the market, delivering an unparalleled boating experience with the new X Shore 1.

X Shore revealed that this enhanced collaboration with Bosch Engineering signifies Bosch’s foray into electrification within the leisure boat segment, with X Shore selected as a pilot partner.

Dr. Johannes-Jƶrg Rüger, President of Bosch Engineering, elaborated on the collaboration, saying, “Bosch is heavily investing in sustainable technologies and has been committed to sustainability long before it gained widespread attention. In the realm of sustainable mobility, we continue to strengthen our portfolio of solutions for electric propulsion. With X Shore, we have found a passionate and strong partner who shares our environmental commitment wholeheartedly. I am pleased that Bosch Engineering can help accelerate the sustainable production of X Shore by sharing our experience in series production and providing high-performance automotive components.”

Earlier this year, X Shore successfully concluded a funding round, securing approximately SEK 300 million (US $30M) in investments. The company anticipates achieving profitability by 2024. While their flagship model, the Eelex 8000 electric boat, was unveiled in 2019 with a higher price tag of around US $329,000, the introduction of the more affordable X Shore 1, priced at $139,000, is expected to significantly broaden their market reach.
