BAIC BluePark and Huawei’s collaborative effort, the Stelato S9, unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, is now open for pre-orders in China. The domestic launch is scheduled for the coming months, with pre-sales starting on May 31st. The pricing ranges from 450,000 to 550,000 yuan, approximately 57,000 to 70,000 euros, with the market launch slated for August.
The Stelato S9, the first model resulting from the BAIC BluePark and Huawei partnership, shares similarities with the Chery-Huawei Luxeed S7 but boasts larger dimensions. It measures 5,160 mm in length (+189 mm), 1,987 mm in width (+24 mm), and 1,486 mm in height (+12 mm), with a 3,050 mm wheelbase (+100 mm). BAIC BluePark claims it rivals the interior space of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class LWB and the BMW 7 Series LWB.
Built on the ‘Turing’ technical vehicle platform, the Stelato S9 will be offered in both RWD and AWD variants. The RWD variant features a single 227 kW motor, while the AWD variant adds a front-mounted 158 kW motor. The battery pack’s chemistry and energy storage capacity are unspecified, but one configuration reportedly offers an 800 km range on a full charge.
Externally, the Stelato S9 boasts an elegant yet distinctive design, featuring large, curvy headlamps connected by a thin light band, reminiscent of the Mercedes EQS, and a rear end similar to the Lincoln Continental. Inside, the rear passengers enjoy individual seats with a quilted diamond pattern upholstery, separated by a large fixed center console housing a control display and storage box.
Safety is a key focus for the Stelato S9, with LiDAR technology enhancing road understanding. Huawei’s ADS 3.0 includes advanced driver assistance features like Navigation Cruise Assist (NCA), offering a seamless experience from parking to parking, as detailed in a report by CarNewsChina.
