Aventon has launched the Level 3, its latest smart electric bicycle, featuring advanced security technology, extended range, and commuter-friendly design enhancements. The U.S.-based e-bike brand aims to set new standards for smart urban mobility with the introduction of its Aventon Control Unit (ACU), a system designed to enhance theft protection and rider convenience.

The Level 3 is Aventon’s second e-bike to integrate the ACU, which provides GPS tracking, remote locking, geofencing, and passcode protection. These features enable riders to monitor and secure their bike remotely, offering greater peace of mind in urban environments. The bike also supports real-time ride tracking via 4G connectivity, allowing users to stay informed about their trips.

Designed for comfort, the Level 3 includes a front suspension fork and a suspension seat post with 50mm of travel, ensuring a smooth ride on uneven roads. The adjustable stem further enhances customization, allowing riders to fine-tune their handlebar position. Powering the bike is a 500W, 36V hub-drive motor with 60Nm of torque, reaching a peak output of 864W. Aventon has opted for a lower-voltage system than its predecessor, the Level 2, but maintains that the motor remains capable of handling steep inclines and urban commutes with ease.

The e-bike is classified as a Class 1 or Class 2 vehicle with a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h), omitting the Class 3 option available on the Level 2. This move aligns with tightening e-bike regulations in regions such as California. The Level 3 boasts an extended range of up to 70 miles (112 km) per charge, supported by a 36V 20Ah battery.

Priced at $1,899, the e-bike is available for preorder, with deliveries expected in April.
