Formula E will use Gen3 cars in the upcoming 2023 season. This season is the ninth year the race has been held.
But the Formula E team, Avalance Andretti seems to have found a new Powertrain supplier after previously BMW decided not to be involved in Formula E racing anymore, although this season they are still providing the engine supply for the team.
Avalance Andretti had to find another supply agreement among the seven manufacturers willing to be suppliers, and the choice fell to Porsche. The four Porsche 99X Electric drivers will race in two teams, including two with the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team and two with Avalanche Andretti.
“Our Formula E journey began with Season 1 and we are extremely proud to now look forward to the next generation of the sport. The Avalanche Andretti FE has the ambition to win, and with the support of Porsche, we have complete confidence in our performance. This agreement is an important step forward in our commitment to our sport, partners and fans,” said Andretti’s team CEO, Michael Andretti.
“It’s important for us to support a team of customers who show passion and professionalism in Formula E like. Andretti has been racing in Formula E since the inaugural 2014 season, it is a great belief that one of the most experienced teams has chosen to work with Porsche from Season 9 onwards,” said Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport.
Thomas also told a little about the collaboration between Porsche and Andretti in 1983. “Porsche and Andretti are united by a long tradition, and it all started when Mario and Michael made their Le Mans debut in the Porsche 956 in 1983. We are delighted that tradition continues in Formula E, and we look forward to our continued successful partnership.”
