South Korean steel group Posco has opened a new factory in Poland to produce electric vehicle motor cores, marking its first such facility in Europe. The plant, located in Brzeg, will begin prototype manufacturing in October and move to full-scale production in December, the company said. The U.S. Army has confirmed that Tesla’s Cybertruck cannot be imported into Europe by military personnel after German authorities ruled the vehicle fails to meet European Union safety standards. U.S. Army personnel stationed overseas are normally permitted to ship personal vehicles through Army logistics channels, provided they comply with local regulations. Hyundai Mobis, the auto parts unit of Hyundai Motor Group, is expanding its semiconductor design efforts to boost self-reliance and reduce dependence on external suppliers, according to a company insider. Tesla Inc. has surpassed 50,000 vehicle owners in Turkey, just three years after starting deliveries in the country, the company announced on its official social media account X. Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) has unveiled a new flexible platform to accelerate production of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs), a core component in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells. Blink Charging said on Monday it has installed eight 120-kilowatt DC fast chargers at the newly developed Power Up Plaza in Chicago’s West Garfield Park, expanding charging access in a neighborhood that previously had limited options for electric vehicle (EV) drivers. Stellantis has reduced nearly 10,000 jobs in Italy in the past four years while vehicle production has dropped sharply over the past two decades, according to a report released on Monday by the Fiom-Cgil metalworkers’ union. The union said Stellantis’ Italian workforce fell to 27,632 at the end of 2024, down from 37,288 in 2020. Vehicle production, including vans and small trucks, has more than halved since 2004, dropping from around 1 million to fewer than 480,000 units in 2024. General Motors said it has donated 59 BrightDrop electric vans to the American Red Cross to bolster disaster relief and community support programs for vulnerable populations across the United States. Danish charging platform Spirii has entered into a partnership with French parking space rental provider Yespark Group to expand and digitalise electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Europe, the companies said on Thursday. The agreement covers France, Belgium and Italy, where Yespark recently strengthened its presence through the acquisition of Zenpark. The company now manages more than 10,000 parking spaces across 6,000 sites in over 700 cities.
