Irish charging operator EZO and telecommunications provider eir have opened their first dedicated high-speed electric vehicle charging hub in Dublin, marking the start of a broader plan to deploy 50 urban charging locations across Ireland over the next three years. The new facility is located in Walkinstown, a suburb of Dublin, and represents the first site launched under an expanded partnership between the two companies aimed at increasing access to fast EV charging in urban areas. High-Power Charging Hub Opens Near M50 The Walkinstown hub features three ultra-fast chargers capable of delivering up to 200 kW and is situated at…
Volkswagen has discontinued external access to a programming interface used by third-party applications to monitor electric vehicle charging status and remotely control charging functions, a move that could impact owners who rely on smart energy management systems. The change affects the automaker’s “Brand App Interface,” which previously enabled external software platforms to access selected vehicle data from Volkswagen Group electric vehicles, including models sold under the Volkswagen, Audi, Cupra and Škoda brands. Volkswagen announced the change in early April, with implementation taking place during calendar week 21, between May 18 and May 24. Third-Party Applications Lose Access Application Programming Interfaces,…
ChargePoint and Powers Parts have entered into a distribution partnership aimed at expanding access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure and fleet management solutions for transit agencies across North America. Under the agreement, transit operators will be able to procure ChargePoint’s direct current fast-charging hardware, software, and support services through Powers Parts’ distribution network. The partnership is expected to particularly benefit operators of Phoenix E2 and ZX5 electric buses, a segment the companies said has faced limited charging infrastructure support. Partnership Targets Growing Electric Transit Market The collaboration combines ChargePoint’s charging technology portfolio with Powers Parts’ established presence in the transit…
Mobility services provider UTA Edenred has partnered with Ionity to offer discounted charging rates for fleet customers across Europe, further expanding its charging network portfolio following earlier collaborations with Tesla and EnBW. The agreement gives UTA Edenred customers access to Ionity’s network of approximately 6,500 high-power charging points across 24 European countries, including around 1,400 locations in Germany. The partnership makes Ionity the third major charging network operator to establish a strategic charging collaboration with UTA Edenred, following previous agreements involving Tesla’s Supercharger network and German energy company EnBW. Under the new arrangement, UTA Edenred has introduced two subscription options…
Germany’s public charging network exceeded 200,000 charging points for the first time as of April 1, 2026, according to new data released by the Federal Network Agency, highlighting continued growth in the country’s electric vehicle infrastructure. The agency’s charging station register recorded 200,255 publicly accessible charging points nationwide, an increase of 28,962 units, or 17%, compared with the same period a year earlier. The total was also up by 3,902 charging points from the previous reporting date of February 1. While alternating current (AC) charging points continue to account for the majority of the network, direct current (DC) fast chargers…
BMW is facing production delays for some BMW iX1 orders in Europe due to shortages of 17- and 18-inch wheels, according to a report by Automobilwoche. The supply issue is expected to disrupt deliveries of the electric SUV during the summer months, with some customer orders potentially delayed until autumn. “There are still enough wheels for production in May, but already in June the capacities will not be sufficient,” a BMW production manager said in a letter to dealers cited by Automobilwoche. The report said BMW has not disclosed the exact cause of the shortage but confirmed the company is…
Netze BW has launched a pilot project focused on integrating electric truck fleets into the power grid, working with logistics companies Stickel and Logistik Schmitt in southern Germany. The initiative, known as “FlexCharge BW – NETZlabor E-Lkw,” aims to examine how large electric truck fleets can be charged in a grid-supportive manner while minimizing strain on local electricity networks. The project builds on Netze BW’s earlier real-world pilot programmes involving electric passenger vehicle charging, which tested whether large numbers of electric vehicles charging simultaneously could overload local grids. According to the company, those earlier pilot projects showed that local distribution…
MFG EV Power has selected AMPECO to support the expansion of its ultra-rapid charging network across the United Kingdom. The partnership currently covers more than 2,800 charge points across over 550 charging locations and is intended to support EV Power’s nationwide growth plans and operational management, the companies said. EV Power is the electric vehicle charging division of Motor Fuel Group, which operates around 1,200 sites across United Kingdom. The business is also expanding through a partnership with Morrisons and plans to install ultra-rapid chargers at 500 locations by the end of 2030. The AMPECO platform is designed to connect…
Reading Borough Council has partnered with EV charging company char.gy to install around 2,600 public electric vehicle charge points across residential streets in Reading, England. The 15-year programme aims to ensure that at least 90% of households without access to private driveways are located within 100 metres of a public charger. Initial installations are expected to begin in the coming months, with approximately 1,500 charging points planned to be operational within the first two years. Most of the chargers will be integrated into existing street lamp columns, while standalone charging units will also be deployed where suitable space is available.…
Fastned has launched another bond offering for retail investors in Belgium and the Netherlands as the electric vehicle charging company seeks additional capital to support expansion of its European fast-charging network. The company did not disclose a specific fundraising target for the latest bond issue, although previous offerings have allowed Fastned to raise tens of millions of euros. Fastned raised 32.4 million euros through a bond round in March. Across 2025, the company secured more than 110 million euros through three separate bond issuances, following approximately 82 million euros raised in 2024. The bonds are primarily targeted at retail investors…
