Amprius Technologies, a California-based battery developer, has received a $15 million order for its high-performance lithium-ion cells from an undisclosed Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) manufacturer. The deal follows successful field tests and qualifications, ensuring critical supply for the customer’s production ramp-up, Amprius said in a statement. UK-based battery technology startup Ionetic has opened a £5 million pilot plant in Northamptonshire to develop cost-effective battery packs for low-volume automakers in the UK and US, CEO James Eaton said in an interview.
