A European Union-funded initiative is advancing the development of a next-generation 1,200-volt electric powertrain, aiming to improve performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability in electric vehicles. The ‘nExt geNeration 1200V eLectric hIGH volTage powErtraiN’ (ENLIGHTEN) project, which will run until 2028, seeks to integrate and test a powertrain that maintains compatibility with existing charging infrastructure, researchers said. Polish electric bus manufacturer Solaris has secured a contract to supply ten Trollino 18 trolleybuses to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by mid-2025. The deal was signed with the Ministry of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton after Solaris won a tender partially financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB). The company did not disclose the contract’s value. The Trollino 18 is an 18-meter-long articulated trolleybus that operates on an overhead catenary system for fully electric travel. British car dealer Arnold Clark has announced a €35 million (£30 million) investment in expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging network, with plans to install 500 ultra-rapid chargers at over 100 locations across England and Scotland. UK charge point operator Trojan Energy has secured a contract from Camden Council to install 570 electric vehicle charge points across the London borough by the end of 2026.
